2 Killed in Wrong-Way Accident on State Route 237 [Sunnyvale, CA] Two Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision near Mathilda AvenueSUNNYVALE, CA (May 1, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, two victims were killed in a wrong-way accident on State Route 237.Police responded to the scene around 4:00 a.m., near Mathilda Avenue on April 23rd.Per reports, the driver of a silver 2021 Honda Civic was heading east in the westbound lanes. As a result, the silver Civic collided head-on with a red 2017 Honda Civic.Medical personnel arrived and pronounced both drivers dead at the scene. Investigators say there were no passengers inside either vehicle.Emergency crews blocked the westbound lanes for several hours before it was fully reopened.The identity of the wrong-way driver was not yet released but he was described as a man in his mid 20s to early 30s. Latest statewide snow survey shows plenty of snow remains in Sierra Nevada (BCN) -- The state's latest snowpack measurements are in and the results won't shock anyone who spent the winter in storm-wracked California this year -- there's still a huge amount of snow in the Sierra Nevada. The California Department of Water Resources released its snow survey data Monday after conducting a manual measurement at Phillips Station in El Dorado County and compiling information from its network of 130 snow sensors throughout the state. Clouds cover Bay Area ahead of showers and thunderstorms forecast for Tuesday The manual measurement shows 59 inches of snow with a snow-water equivalent of 30 inches, which is 241 percent of average for Phillips Station on May 1, according to DWR. The sensors show the statewide snowpack's snow-water equivalent at 49.2 inches, or 254 percent of average for this date.
